Just sounds like a lot of comb filtering to me, I love that it's like a modern take on that DJ Rush or Green Velvet thing. Learning production doesn't teach inviduality like that.

Yeah, like placing a random comb filter over a plain techno track will turn it into this?

Who said anything about being plain? The track's very individual, but essentially it's a very simple production. It's bunch of perc hits with grooves applied and a vocal sample. The track stands out, not the production.

Eh, I dunno, It sounds like the producer just did an outstanding job in equalizing the stuff which is why it sounds so realistic to both of us I think.

Just because there has been a whole lot of processing doesn't mean that the track can't sound simple to the average listener.

Usually for the track to be appealing to the listener, it requires a lot of eq'ing or just a good taste and skill in sampling.

I don't really listen to a ton of techno, trance, etc., partially because it seems like there are always so many other kinds of music competing for my time and attention. I think there's some really good stuff in those electronic genres, though. Here are a couple of things I came across that I like a lot:

(I guess this one's pretty old)
