Shimanchu nu Takara by BEGIN

Culture: Okinawan

I'm just gonna borrow the description of the song from this blog because it's well written (and I'm just too lazy to write it in my own words). Watch Japan

Quote:
The title of this song, “Shimanchu nu Takara”, in the dialect of the people of Okinawa, means “Treasures of the Island People”. Sung by the Japanese band, BEGIN, the song tells a wonderful story of youth leaving Okinawa to forge a new life on the mainland, but for whom the distinctive culture and language of the islands is important.

I don't really identify myself with the mainland Japanese culture. Okinawan culture is more laid back, similar to the Hawaiian culture I think.

My country doesn't understand nuances.

To b9: Hi, I live in Asia (not China). I'm 100% Chinese by blood.
To Yuzu: Hi, this song is indeed beautiful. Maybe I have over-analyzed it, because I think that it is beautiful in a vaguely sad way. The Chinese term for such songs is 凄美, which Google Translate translated as "poignant".
To 1000Knives: I might be wrong... My interpretation? This song is a song bubbling with rage, yet the singer performs it calmly. Calm rage is much more deadlier that fiery/stormy rage.

To Stalk: Hi Stalk!! ! Beautiful pics+Beautiful voice=What a beautiful song! I ended up using Google Translate to figure its lyrics out. Hmm, I suppose that this song revolves around a pianist named Lisa.

I love this song because it's by Macklemore who's currently surfing on a wave of fame for "Thrift Shop." Yet he's more intelligent than he lets on. Here, he's subtly showing that we, as America's youth, are consumers. To be cool and trendy, we buy these expensive Nikes, but for what? It doesn't improve the playing? It's just a fad, a logo, a brand. Sadly, my kid brother loves this song for the wrong reason: he misinterprets the lyrics, thinking it's talking about how everyone needs Nikes. I tried explaining the meaning, but he told me, "How does that even make sense? That's ret*d, stupid." So, here's a tune that shows the brain washing of the "swag generation."

This song is definitely about the plebeian culture of Canada.
However: Even if it appears in a commercial for Molson
Canadian (not so much any more, since Molson was
bought out by the American beermaker Coors a
few years ago), at least it's a song:

"Now imagine: More of [Don Cherry, infamous ex-coach of the
Boston Bruins and stereotypical redneck celebrant of hard hits
and harder brawls on the ice hockey ice]! That calls for a bubba
(a mini-keg in this context, named for the stereotypical Texan) of beer."
