I’ve heard “En Geng Ska Han Greta”, and think I might share your opinion. I think she has great expressiveness (even if I can’t understand Norwegian :) ).

I listen to a lot of indie folk singers. A few of my favs are Nancy Tucker (who's also a great guitarist/songwriter/actress/comedian/everything else!) and Margo and Adrienne from the band Mad Agnes. Plus a lot of others, of course.

Anyone remember Annie Haslam from the late sixties, early seventies symphonic rock band "Renaissance"?

Yeah, I know who that is. I'm not big into prog rock, but if we're talking obscure throw-backs from the 60's, I'll go with 60's cult songtress Vashti Bunyan.

I also like Nina Natasia and Loreena McKenna.

I also like female jazz vocalists, like Sarah Vaugh and Ella Fitzgerald.

TARJA! TARJA! TARJA!

Oh, and Amy Lee--she totally gets sadness down, and seems very down to earth in interviews.

Emilie Autumn, though not for her voice.
