this is one video in a series of 12 (which is called "billy joel masterclass"), where he is playing his classics (solo) to a university audience of mainly musical scholars, and he is doing so in an educational manner.
in this video, he explains how he wrote "scenes from an italian restaurant" to the audience, and it demonstrates to me more of the depth of his genius.
he truly has an exceptional gift which is not equaled in modern musical history in my mind. (also consider how his age is not an impediment to the force of his musical capacity).
