Another beautiful female Pharaoh (obviously one of my favorite subjects to draw)

The Egyptian khepresh, also known as the Blue Crown or War Crown, appears on the heads of several Pharaohs (most famously Ramses II) in New Kingdom iconography. Although the khepresh is most commonly reconstructed as a helmet or headdress by modern artists, one scholar named Cheikh Anta Diop has suggested that it was actually a specially honed Afro hairstyle similar to that worn by Rwandan Tutsi. Whatever the mainstream Egyptological establishment says, I'm personally rather partial to this Afro hypothesis and thought it would look good drawn out.

This woman isn't meant to be any particular historical figure, though you could identify her with Hatshepsut or some other female Pharaoh.

Have not taken the time to do a lot of traditional art past sketches lately, but I got a new portable-sized sketchbook with a hard cover and I have barely been able to use anything else it is so convenient. Got a chance to scan my fav piece from it thus far. came out kind of weird, the hard cover gets in the way a bit of the scanner lid.

Self_Portrait

I hate using mirrors, looking at my face/eyes etcetera. Always get the same weird feeling I get looking at people in the face and making eye-contact. So I found a creative way to do a self-portrait. Took it off the reflection of a giant christmas orb.

This piece has already gotten bad reviews on dev art =/ but haters will always hate. what do you guys think?

^ Keep working at it, you've definitely improved a little bit!

Well... I've water colored a few things here and there, but nothing I'm particularly proud of.
