Isabella, you liked the other instrumental song off of this album which was called: I'm A Mindless Idiot".

This is another instrumental song off the same album and I like it as well.

It's funny, Led Zeppelin II is probably my favorite Zep album and Meat Puppets II is probably my favorite Meat Puppets album.

This song, immortalized by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana in the MTV Nirvana Unplugged performance when they played the song with the Kirkwood brothers aka "The Brothers Meat" as Kurt referred to them as.

This song was love, love, loved by me long before the Nirvana MTV Unplugged thing. While the Nirvana cover was great in its own right, it does not hold a candle to this original.

Still great though!!

My respect and admiration for Kurt Cobain went up many notches when he had the Kirkwood brothers out to play some of their songs. I've been a fan of the Meat Puppets since 1985.

I'd like to know the background as to how the Kirkwood brothers being included came to be for this performance. Nirvana could have picked probably any band to be included in this performance like Sonic Youth, X, Melvins, Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson from the Replacements, Bob Mould and Grant Hart from Husker Du, so many possibilities. Love that they picked the Puppets!

I couldn't stop this run without posting this song. Other-wordly and iconic. This is one of the best musical performances in rock and roll history in my opinion. Cobain's magnum opus in an ominous way.

Jonathan Richman (as well as the Modern Lovers) is one of my favorite musicians. My wife agrees that he is utterly charming when you see him live.

They were on tour together shortly before that, or around the same time. Nirvana rehearsed the Meat Puppets songs themselves, but couldn't quite get them right, so they thought the Kirkwood brothers would help. Cobain was extremely afraid of doing Unplugged, and insisted people he knew and who liked him sat in the front, so he could look at them during the performance. I'm pretty sure they only did one take of each song, since he was so driven to not mess up (other episodes typically had a few takes of the songs--Neil Young even scrapped his original taping and redid it).
