This was my seminal music in the late 90s.

'Every time you point your finger, three more point right back at you'.

The New Seekers had several big hits in the UK in the early 1970s. This song features a typically powerful performance from lead vocalist Lyn Paul. The other female singer, the more restrained and polished Eve Graham, had left the group shortly before this.

Fun Fact (1): Lyn Paul made a brief appearance as an eleven-year-old in the first ever episode of Coronation Street in December 1960.

Fun Fact (2): This edition of Top Of The Pops was made in black and white because the UK was in the grip of the most notorious strike of the 1970s, by the National Union Of Mineworkers, which crippled the economy and led to power cuts and desperate attempts to cut costs.

Bedding Taylor Swift
Every night inside the Oculus Rift
After mister and the missus finish dinner and the dishes
And now the future's definition is so much higher than it was last year
It's like the images have all become real
Someone's living my life for me out in the mirror
No, can you believe how far we've come
In the New Age?

Freedom to have what you want
In the New Age we'll all be entertained
Rich or poor, the channels are all the same
You're a star now, baby, so dry your tears
You're just like them
Wake on up from the nightmare
No gods to rule us
No drugs to soothe us
No myths to prove stuff
No love to confuse us
Not bad for a race of demented monkeys
From a cave to a city to a permanent party

When the historians find us we'll be in our homes
Plugged into our hubs
Skin and bones
A frozen smile on every face
As the stories replay
This must have been a wonderful place

More trashy, throwaway early 1970s pop, but still brilliant for all that. The singer is Sally Carr, about whom I know very little. Pity about the on-screen credits towards the end, especially the notorious Jimmy Savile....

^^

I haven't heard Sky Pilot in probably a decade. A radio show DJ used to play it a lot as one of his favorites.

Interesting performance, never seen it before and had to use a VPN to access it. Gotta say I prefer Geri Halliwell's version though, probably because of its higher energy and general in-your-face trashiness. Love the way she appears to sing 'According to all sauces' as well.... :)
