I don't think I have high anxiety or PTSD, but I definitely relate to this. Some of it is good (I like Public Enemy, for example), but even that I can only handle in very small doses.

I'll listen to just about anything, really, except rap and hip hop, but I tend to favor those genres and sub-genres above others.

I like music that builds up it's own world. I like music with an almost theatrical element to it. I like concept albums. That said, I've never been that interested musical virtuosity, so I'm not really into prog.

My current obsession is Lou Reed.

I love Kate Bush, as well (arguably prog)

I used to be really obsessed with The Kinks and The Who.

Dr. Rock is a fantastic satire of the medical field. Even better is Back At The Funny Farm which I encourage anyone to dig up if you've never heard it ("I really like this jacket, but the sleeves are much too long"). Motorhead is one of those bands which has either sublimely great songs with powerful insights into humanity (Dr. Rock, Back At The Funny Farm, Dogs, Orgasmatron, Over The Top and a few others) or they're totally stupid.

Duh's right, I have no excuse for not mentioning them, or Genesis, either. . I heard John Lennon's Gimme Some Truth recently, and it really resonated with my thinking about being an Aspie, so enjoy.

Or Gong, contender for my favorite band ever - Oily Way

Andy Summer's two collaborations with Robert Fripp, David Byrne, and his work with Fripp, and Byrne's recent album with Brian Eno, Everything that Happens will Happen Today. This song has gotten me through tough times this past year.

I usually listen to anything. Preferably Japanese or eastern music. Definitely not Dubstep or "new" music.

I also can't stand when someone has their bass cranked way up in their car. It's as though the bass gets in my head, & it makes my head hurt...it also makes me disorientated, & angry due to the pain.

Thrash Metal (old Metallica, Slayer, Kreator, Dark Angel, Megadeth, old Sepultura)
Death Metal (Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Cryptopsy)
Power Metal (Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Kamelot, Rhapsody)
"Mathcore" (Dillinger Escape Plan, Ion Dissonance)
Progressive Metal (Dream Theater, etc)
Some punk (Dead Kennedys mostly)
Techno (Jeff Mills, Chris Liberator, Chris Liebing)
Happy Hardcore Techno (this may seem out of place, but to me, the happy factor is turned up so far it actually transcends "happy" and becomes psychotic)
Psytrance (Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Fractal Glider, The Nam Shub Of Enki)
"IDM" (Squarepusher, Aphex Twin)
Frank Zappa
Mr. Bungle
Classic rock/metal (Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden)
