Wonderfully weird.

Just finished The Wild Robot Escapes, the second book in Peter Brown's Wild Robot trilogy. There's a movie too.

These books blew my mind.
Never read anything like them!
Now I'm freaking HOOKED, only the last 2 haven't been been translated into English yet, so...BOO!
I'm trying to compensate by reading his biographical works, the first one of which is rather unfortunately named Mein Kampf! In its original language.

The Shepherd's Hut by Tim Winton
It was recommended by a friend but not really my kind of thing.
The vernacular was quite a slog.
And it's an Australian novel so I can't imagine how anyone who hasn't grown up in the country would understand it.
Best buried at the bottom of a deep mine shaft IMO.

I read this book once a few years ago. I’m in the mood to read it again.

I have listened to the audiobook of this (unabridged).

I don't normally listen to or read this sort of book but it seemed very intelligent and thoughtful. Sylvia Plath is a good author.

I guess that this book was written when second wave feminism was just beginning?

Surunpotku by Leena Lehtolainen

I have no idea how to translate the name since it's not really even a word... like, there is a word "onnenpotku" which is used when something really lucky happens, and in this book, some dude came up with a word "surunpotku." The "onnen" part means luck, while "suru" means sadness, and "potku" means a kick, so... eh, still don't know how I'd translate it, but basically, it means something really unlucky happened.

It's a crime novel btw, and the guy who came up with the word got murdered. Still haven't gotten far enough to know who the murderer is.

Goshen Road by Bonnie Proudfoot

Yeah, it did coincide with the second wave.

I find it very relatable. I wasn’t initially drawn to its connection to feminism so much as some of the common experiences Plath and a share.

I finished The Bell Jar and am very glad I reread it.

Now I’m rereading another book. Actually, I don’t think I finished it the first time around for reasons, but I will this time.

Do you mean the mental illness experience/depression?

Her eventual suicide was a tragedy.

I once read an anthology of Maya Angelou’s work. I still think about it and wish that I owned the full poetry collection.

I’d prefer not going into that topic too much here. It’s a bit complicated.
She was an amazing writer. Her work has meant a lot to me over the years.
