I’m reading Contact by Carl Sagan. I watched the movie many moons ago but never read the book.

Holly, by Stephen King.

Maybe not King's best book, but entertaining enough. Probable autistic PI, Holly Gibney, is hired by a woman to find her missing daughter. Meanwhile, a deceptively sinister, semi-retired academic husband and wife are kidnapping, murdering, and eating their victims to regain their dwindling health. Of course the two cases are related.

I've started re-reading A Spider's World, by Friedrich G. Barth.

It's one of my favourites because it is both rigorously disciplined and very eloquent. It's musical. And I find the idea of a scientific approach to coexisting with the Umwelt of another animal very comforting.

But I have too many books 'on the go'. I'm recovering from a burn-out phase and when I'm like this I tend to pick up too many threads, try to follow ALL of them somewhat obsessively, end up spinning round in circles.

If I have to put one down... I can't choose though
