Here is a three-fer of commissions done for me @ KumoriCon:
[img][800:604]http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/244/e/7/ami_mizuno__me__and_minako_aino_by_fromequestria2la-d7xmddc.jpg[/img]
First up, we have, from left to right, Ami Mizuno, me and Minako Aino from Sailor Moon in our own version of True Detective.

[img][800:668]http://th09.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2014/244/3/6/sailor_moon_pulls_a_richard_sherman_by_fromequestria2la-d7xmdzb.jpg[/img]
Next up, ;et's just file this one under the "It was JUST begging to be done". What it is, is me as a reporter for PNN (with the Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey, again, like you saw in the me w/Elsa and Anna pic) parodying the Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman's famous rant heard 'round the world after the 2013 NFC Championship game. Those of you who do not know what I am talking about, see this video:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjOkTib5eVQ

All you magical girls who aren't Sailor Senshi: You've been put on notice. :D

Image
And, lastly, I am all about giving minor characters some love. So, here is Sakurada Haruna (aka Patricia Haruna in the original English dub) from Sailor Moon wearing a Montreal Alouettes (Canadian Football League) jersey. She is Usagi/Serena's English teacher. Kinda ironic that she is cheering for a team located in a mostly Francophone area. But, hey, team spirit is understood no matter what language you speak.

My whole family on my mom's side. It was a pretty big crowd.

And my older cousin brought her boyfriend, and he was too tall for a lot of it. It was hysterical oh my god. :lmao:

Cool, talented carving! :)

Thank you. I dont think it is done yet. I want to fill it up with simple relief carving too. I could do more to the owl, but I like it smooth for some reason, so I stopped there.

I'm sure that will look good, with the owl, sometimes knowing when to stop is the best thing :)

Why won't anybody comment on the art I put out (and some that aren't mine, but I commissioned for)? :( E2LA is a bit sad.

I have been mucking about with acrylics for a while now, but for the past 6-8 months I haven't been able to nearly as much with some physical issues. Hoping to get back to it this fall.

This is one of the most recent experiments just before I really slowed down and I want to get back to trying out more stuff like this, as I really liked how some of it turned out. [I know how I could have done it much better though so eager to try it again]

One more I was kind of experimenting with below. The picture quality isn't great, but it was really just a first try anyway to see how it might work out. [So why am I sharing it? I don't know. i don't get to share a lot of stuff]

I finally got out of my stupid art block and made something I actually liked. I was tired of scrapping ideas.

I really REALLY like this, by the way.

For me, it seems like a lot of features are *just* before going over the edge into unrealistic or "unbelievable". So they are skewed enough to make the brain feel kind of "slightly uncomfortable"?

It's difficult for me to describe exactly why it's working for me.

All together it also subtley reminds me of the shinigami in Death Note- not necessarily any particular one, but like this drawing maybe could have been inspired by them partly. [I'm not saying it was. But it could work in a collection along with them and some other things tying them together. I hope it's ok that i said that. eep!]

...anyway I like it a lot!

the colour pallet that you draw from shows restraint and pre-determinaton. i like it much.
