January 1972, the last truly great T Rex single, though March 1973's 'Twentieth Century Boy' is well worth a listen as well. Sadly this version of 'Telegram Sam' has only been preserved via a German TV show, as the utterly useless BBC has apparently deleted the original Top of the Pops recording.

This was the first T Rex performance I ever saw: I was blown away by it, and remain a hardcore fan to this day.
