This is soooo 1972. A one hit wonder, as I recall. This song became the basis for a good many football ground chants in the 1970s, in the days when the game still belonged to ordinary people (unlike now :-| )

The vocalist had certainly learned a few facial expressions from Bolan. Pity he didn't have the hair to go with them. :lol:

T Rex in America, Summer of 1973. This has apparently been on YouTube for over a decade, but I hadn't noticed this version until now! Bolan on the verge of physical, mental and musical decline, yet this is a really powerful and fully live performance, probably at Long Beach, California. In the background you can occasionally glimpse Gloria Jones (as a backing singer with Pat Hall), whose relationship with Bolan was about to break up his marriage with June Child. That was the catalyst for his downfall, according to a majority of his hardcore fans.
