There far, far more to being a good writer than just the grammatical side.
11 things you need:

A solid Idea
A well developed plot
A strong protagonist that people will relate to
Extensive knowledge of dramatic devices
Knowing your character's psychological profile
knowing how to characterise that profile
An Understanding of your character's development throught to story
Some form of antagonist
Extensive use of Literary devices
Evocative imagery
A strong ending that people will remeber

You need all of these things if you want to be a published Author, and even then, there are no guarantees

I'm a good writer and good author.

If that's abnormal for being on the spectrum, then my bad. Here I am, one living proof that autistic people can even write fiction.

The abilty to write good stories yes. The physical aspect of wrting no. I can never write a good story by hand because it makes my hands hurt. However, if I use a computer or typewriter people tell me I should get my stories published.

I've been told that my writing was exceptional, though I always assumed everybody who read it was drinking cough syrup or something =P

I'm fairly good with the technical aspect of the English language considering the amount of teaching I've had in it (nothing other than the basics) and the fact that it's my second language. I fall down when it comes to prose and dialogue, though. That's not to say that I can't put together a paragraph or short story that figuratively rocks your socks off, but it's rare. I can also put together some interesting characters, if given time and inspiration, and also know how to avoid clichès in plot, if not necessarily how to always write a good one.

In regards to non-creative writing - reviews, essays, and the like - while I haven't written one in a good while, I'm constantly judging and evaluating, so at least I have the thinking process related to it well under control. But when I recently tried to write a review for a certain very popular game, I simply choked up and couldn't start it off. Anything I typed was terrible and cheesy.

I'm a good writer, but not good at keeping it up, like writing every day.

I haven't been 'published' anywhere except the net. I try to get characters to pass the 'make me care' test (how you relate to them). I do fairly well with descriptions, a little humor, and a generic plot line.

I tend to let things 'percolate' for a week or two, just imagining the story, sample dialog, details, etc. When the time is right, I put it all down in Wordpad (then Word, to find the misspellings and grammatical errors...;) and submit it. I've posted a few stories, but they're...not family fare...;)

I'd say I'm a good writer. I write a lot of songs and take English Literature in college which I get consistently high marks for.

My Language Arts (same as english) teacher did the same things. She even went called my parents and said how great I am in writing. She just wants to cheer me up because everyone else insults me on my writing when I HAVE to read it. No one knows I have Autism but when I get diagnosed, my L.A. teacher will figure out why I write so bad.

I've gotten mixed reviews of my writing. Some people, especially my parents, say it's excellent, whereas others are more critical. I like to think that I'm good with basic stuff like grammar and spelling but am challenged by certain aspects of creative writing such as plot construction, characterization, and dialogue.

The main obstacles any creative writer on the spectrum would face are characterization and dialogue. Our ability to intuit how "normal" people would talk and behave is impaired if present at all, and that intuitive ability, while perhaps not essential, would undoubtedly be beneficial to good storytelling.

Winter
So cold, dead, tiring...

Death can be chillingly beautiful

the bare trees, so naked but so proud.

The howling wind, unfriendly,

like a slap in the face.

Void of the warmth of a summer day.

Within this cold barren season

lies a sort of beauty.

The diamond droplets falling to earth,

white fluffiness, sparkling,

caressing our skin with their cold kisses.

For a time winter was beautiful

in my eyes.

While I was experiencing it

with a warm happiness.

The snow flakes brought

a smile to my face.

Looking at it all through

rose colored glasses.

Now all that remains is a frozen heart.

The shadow of what once was.

Empty and dead inside.

Wandering around this frozen wasteland

waiting to be found.

Can someone re-awaken this sleeping soul?

I wouldn't think so.

Personally, I'm a decent writer, but it does depend on what I have to write about. If it's about something I'm uninterested in, it's really hard to do. But if I care about it in some way, it can be fairly easy. I'm really bad at analyzing works of art more than anything else, so my English grade is usually not the highest. My brain does lean more towards mathematical ability than writing ability, though.

While most people with Asperger's Syndrome are generally math-oriented (especially the boys), I wouldn't say it is abnormal for an Aspie to have a talent for writing. I am an exceptional writer myself (though I am female, so I guess that's part of it) and I have Asperger's Syndrome. Note: I am by no means a poet, but I have a knack for writing fiction.

I've been told by teachers, friends and family that I write very, very well; both fiction and nonfiction.
