If they'd shoot you down for it, they'd have to shoot me down too for having similar opinions on other people. :P I think that maybe there are people who'd rather ignore my band-related oddities.

He's happy that people still talk about his band years latter. It wouldn't matter to him if they were loved or hated. He had too much money when he died to care about that.

I was just thinking that about Ray Davies. Even when I was reading the book, X-RAY I found a lot of aspie traits in him. Mick Avory seems to border on being AS and HFA, so I don't want people shooting me down for speaking my opinion either. Ray Davies and Mick Avory were best friends out of the Kinks. I can see why the connection happened to be, as well. Ray is a Mind Aspie and Mick is a Heart Aspie.

Yeah, X-Ray is the main reason I think he might be on spectrum. He comes off that way in interviews, too. What I know about Mick Avory comes from Ray talking about him, which he does a lot. You could be right on that, I'm not sure. I'm a bit reticent to list everything that makes him seem AS to me because it'll make me look obsessive.

The thing with Ray is that he's from a generation where they didn't get diagnosed. He has bipolar as well, so people would put his oddness down to that. My partner doesn't believe me on this, but I'm fairly sure. I'm not one for throwing around diagnoses, either.

Didn't John Lennon sort of "disavow" his Beatles work at one point, and say his work after that was more important?

He did and I would have to agree.

Haven't been reading through the thread but I will say I've been made a great fun of for being open about my Beatles obessions since they're an old band. Now my little niece who's an in school loves them and she tells me how she's made fun of for it as well as other "strange" or odd musical tastes. I'm so proud of her, not because she likes music but because she likes what she likes not because it's "hip" or "trendy". I know it wasn't for me.

It seems to be trendy to turn the Beatles into music gods.
I don't like then because I like what sounds good to my ears. They just sound annoying to me but If you like them then you shouldn't be insulted for it.

I like them but I would have to agree. I think people mistake 'most popular' with 'best' in this case.

I don't know whether or not it was because I was influenced at a young age on the Beatles, or if I just like the rhythm. I think they are very original with their music, and sure it sounds like they were on drugs most of the time. Still, it just interests me and I think their songs are quite peaceful, so I don't think it's too overrated to be honest.

I love The Beatles! But I don't think they are musical gods. They're just four talented guys who got lucky.

First off they started as a skiffle group called The Quarrymen then changed there name. The American musical influence of there early songs was due to the Cunard Yanks. In there early years they were unpopular in my home town that changed after there second visit to Hamburg.

The Beatles were the lucky ones from the Merseybeat scene, other artists didn't get the opportunities like they did. Liverpudlians can have a love/hate relationship with the band cos' when you live in this city you get the "fab four" in your face all the time.

Also alot of people just think that musically Liverpool is famous for the Beatles, no thats not the case as my city has the oldest professional orchestra in the UK, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

Even allowing for some debate, I don't think it's possible to rate I Want You (She's so heavy) highly enough.
