I just bought a subscription to the Met's next season. Here is what i will see:

New Production Gala?Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci

Starts in the fall - I am so excited. (I'm in the cheap seats! But I researched and they are supposed to be great seats.)

Elgar Cello Concerto
Elgar wrote his famous cello concerto about World War I. It is his lament for a lost world.
Jacqueline Du Pre was in her early twenties and this was one of her last public performances of the piece. She was forced to stop playing completely at the age of 28 and died at 42 of Multiple Sclerosis.

Some of these recordings you won't find anywhere else because I uploaded them from vinyl. But encouragement is kind of like giving a crack addict a lighter and $10,000 :lol:

You may have noticed that I've posted mainly instrumental rather than choral or lyrical music. This is because lyrics distract me from my work, but instrumentals calm my mind and improve my mood a lot while I'm completing tasks. I'm almost always listening to classical radio, playlists or youtube on headphones while reading/ writing. Another reason why I like purely instrumental works is because the compositions are wide open to interpretation. Without lyrics to define the meaning, the listener is free to imagine the story behind each movement of a symphony, relying on the instruments as the narrative voices. The images, thoughts, and emotions that each listener draws from the music create unique experiences for each of us.
