You guys are very talented writers!

I was wondering how many pages on average do you write per day?
If you're writing a book do you increase the number of pages, or do you stay with the your normal page average?
Do you ignore grammar or do you write, revise, and edit as you go along?

Thanks for responding.

It varies from day to day. I am not an author of books, but I do keep a journal and of course write on forums. It can be anywhere from 0-100 I guess.

I obsessively jot down about a page a day of notes relating to an outline, mostly ideas and dialogue as it pops into my noggin.

Oh, Lab Pet has lost count (& I'm a flash counter). But my science journals are FULL and overflowing.....as in volumes. When we have those academic meetings I'm never quite sure what to bring so I bring it ALL!! ! Very heavy backpack. Then why talk when one can write? And draw! Lab Pet loves to draw, concurrent with my science. I ought to publish just one of my lab journals, as is.

same here. I have like 5 notebooks full of ideas and bits of dialogue. I suck with descriptions though :/ I liked yours btw kx!

I guess I write about 3-4 pages a week when I write (when I'm workin on a certain idea that is), but I can also spend days re-writing 2 sentences.

I'm so unproductive

It varies immensely. I don't write every day. I should but it just makes me burnt out! DX Some days I can write 15 pages. Other days no more than 1-2.

Thanks!

I used computerlove's suggestions and rewrote portions of that snippet during my lunch break today. I like the revised text. Even though the subject matter is dire it feels a little warmer.

I have bad dyslexia and I'm an edit/perfectionist freak. Not exactly a great combination. Writing for me is a joy and a burden. I've never written a story, but it's something that I've always wanted to. Before I started writing this story I jotted down notes about locations, main characters, the beginning of the story and ending (and filled in as best I could the plot points that I think will make the story fun to read). I'm continuing to add to my outline as I progress. I'm pacing myself slowly. Maybe that's all you need. You've create lots of story ideas. Maybe take one of those ideas you keep coming back to and evolve it into a story outline. Start slowly, and develop the story over a year's time.

I'm working on a story for a graphic novel.
It's odd to check the interweb for a phrase that I want to use for a title and find it all over the place ! !!

Still, I've hit on an original idea and character, and I'm having fun writing it.

Does anyone else jot down an idea, then later go back and read it and think "Hey!! That's pretty good ! !"

I think it's all subjective.

Because I write in scenes, I basically until a scene is completed or until I run out of ideas on where to take that particular scene, after which I take a break and usually sleep on it.

Now that I've finish my first proper manuscript, and am in the middle of redrafting, it becomes easier to rewrite. I've managed to do 50 pages in 2-3 weeks, but because my old work was so purple-prosey, my writes have actually cut down the word count in those 50 odd pages by 6,000 words.

so yeah, it's all relative.
