not sure where to put this.

i'm working on a huge project, i'm sure i've talked about a torch 2 story. or characters from it, zenith, jetfox, torch, tammy, and many others.

ok this story has been in my head for 9 years and slowly it morphed into a fantasy, so i destroyed it.

i'm in the process of writing it, i've got a huge database of every character, terms, objects, and worlds, cities, etc.

i'm not sure where to post it i don't think i can post it in fanfiction.net cause even though it has fan characters, xemnas, cloud, saix, sonic, and others they do not dominate the story.

i was thinking devaint art but the lack of readers and comments and views would force me to quit.

where do i post this thing, also is the database a good or bad idea, should i just have everything in the story, if so it's going to be extremely long then.

i'm also debating on wether to start from the begining with emnex and dagon back at the basic starting point or just make it a bunch of flashbacks.

or i could start at the point that torch finds the planet.

if anything i'd still keep the database for refrence for me.

Dead Robots Society has a safe, peer based review section on their site (its all for feedback and development of the members stories). You WILL get feedback there guaranteed, and very helpful feed back at that.

As far as the database, I think its a great idea and a lot of writers use systems like that even though over half of it never makes it into the story. It helps you understand the world you are writing better, and you never know when those ideas and little details will insist on being worked into the story.

What are you using for your database? (Just curious) Notecards? Access? Scrivner?

I once had a story I was writing, and the teacher told me "this is going no where, why are you writing this?!" ... So I gave up writing forever.

I was 10.

dead robots society, never heard of that site i'll look into it.

the database is a system of folders and txt documents i didn't know of any programs that could do a database like thing.

@nim

that's really sad to hear, i write for the fun of it i know my stories may not get me anywhere but i just have fun writing, besides it's easier then drawing.

First, edit edit edit...;) If you create a story that needs a database to keep track of it, only people with the database will read it (you could offer the text stuff as a 'bonus', if it takes off). Refer to the database, but as mentioned, just put in 'relevant' stuff (I seem to remember Tolkien doing that sort of thing, but at the end of the Trilogy)

Second, I've seen some pretty vague stuff at Fanfiction.net, so there's no reason you can't put it there. I've seen Star Trek fanfiction 'with Queen of Swords and Highlander Crossover' (?...;)

Third, just make sure you're having fun. Write what you want to read, that's what's important.

Scrivner is freaking amazing, but is only for Macs. yWriter is ok, free and works on both. Since my old Mac is currently dead and I haven't gotten around to turning my PC into a hackintosh yet so I've been using OneNote, which isn't too bad once you get your own system going. I just really prefer the features Scriver has.

~ahem~ Yes, in the edition I have, I believe his notes ran to 179 pages, including the family tree of Gimli.
