I've been writing for fun since I was about 11, and now I'm 18 I'm in the process of trying to get a poem published (Probably won't happen, though.). I've written countless poems and many stories but I struggle with finishing them, I lack commitment and when the 'inspiration' for the story has dried up a little I am not motivated enough to pursue it. I don't claim to be good at writing, but I know that I need and love to do it.

I'm currently writing a play; this is a bit of a challenge for me as I barely know how conversations work. But I wanted to try something new. It's about a boy who everyone terms as strange (probably not an Aspie) and what happens to him and his family. I think it will end in quite a surreal way.

Does anyone else like writing?

Yes, I used to love alot of writing back at school when it got to poems and stories and i absolutely loved writing stories, I even did it alot back in the days but i sort of stopped doing it, I still have stories in my head on what to write or not like a imaginary diary as i should call it :D

What I would do is try and watch some drama or saved by the bell on youtube or any films that have something to do with teens/school because then that way, you might get an idea of what you want your play to be about? its totally up to you :)

My mates have lately suggested that I should write stories but I dont seem to have the time for it because im always busy with my computer doing artwork.

What sort of things do you love to write about?

If you have ideas in your head, write them down :) (That is if you've got time)

I've already started my play and have a fair idea of what I want it to be about, but I just read it back over and it looks TERRIBLE. I still want to carry on with it though. Don't take this offensively, but do you see many psychiatrists? I need to know how a psychiatrist would react to one particular scene.

If you're still in school...take theatre;
They're used to the strange an unusual...
They'll teach you about lines and play writing if you ask...
and you may not even have to go on stage to do it (I wound up moving stage weights on sets...but I learned a lot)

Yes, very much. If you need help understanding how to write conversations to get what you want I can help you with that. You need to write dialogue that is realistic in nature and not something that you will often encounter in over the top dramas. Try to listen to how people talk and observe their bodylanguage what kind of feeling you get at the first glance when you see it. I tend to that reason we get so worked up about the body language part of social skills is because we tend to over think the reasons behind. The reason why NT have better luck in relationships is because that react on an almost implusive level when it comes to the other side of conversation "what people are really saying" as the professionals would call it. Just go with whatever comes to you. I do and I am now really good with people when it comes to knowing what they are really up too. These are the important fundatmentals of writing conversations. One last thing make sure it gives the audience exactly kind of feeling you want them to have.
