Quirkology - The Curious Science of Everyday Lives by Richard Wiseman. See: Quirkology
...
and my favourite novel:

The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger.
I just found out the movie was released recently.
...
and I 'm a big fan of the Winnie-the-Pooh books Winnie-the-Pooh and The house at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne and the illustrations by E.H. Shepard :D

but now I named more than 1 book... ;)

For One More Day by Mitch Albom. The story is eerily similar to my brother's life and death and makes me wonder if he would have suffered more alive, than my family has had to suffer from losing him so young.

How can you make me choose one??? :)

Ok, I accept the challenge.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
No other single work says so much, so well, about human nature: good, bad, horrific, and wonderful. It's also a really funny book. For those who have read it: I'll stop here or my prose may become too prolix.

"Rocket Boys" by Homer Hickam...but, most people will remember the film, "October Sky" which is based on this book. Jake Gyllenhaal played Homer Hickam in the film. "October Sky" is an anagram for "Rocket Boys."

If I had to choose just one, it would be Dune by Frank Herbert.

Good Gods, I could list favorites until my typing fingers bled, but if it can only be one...just because every time I read it, I crawl inside it and feel better while I'm there - and I never get tired of it...

Lord of the Rings

or does that count as three?

Can't recall the source, but I read somewhere that Tolkien wanted it published as a single volume, but the publishers talked him out of it. And I think you can now buy single-volume editions, so that would count for sure. :)

The Cosmic Serpent by Jeremy Narby

Although right now I'm reading A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and so far it's making a pretty good run at it...

I'm having a hard time picking between Imajica by Clive Barker and Watchmen by Alan Moore.
