Is it just me, or does the 90's rap music differ from today's rap?

I think 90's rap sounds more lively and not all brain-dead with slow beats like today.

That's because the 90s was when the best N.W.A. related material was released. I think that Ice Cube is probably the best rap artist ever. He has a lot of different albums.

I think now there's a consensus and a feeling about what rap music really "is", which didn't really exist in the early to mid 90s.
