I wrote a novel and published it online at a now-defunct e-puslisher. Nobody ever read it except my friends. One of the people who read it (the hard copy) told me it was "very Asperger's". She has Asperger's herself and is a doctor who runs an aspy support group, and one of the 2 experts who unofficially diagnosed me.
Anyway, although I never could find a publisher for the novel, perhaps the very thing that made it unpalatable to the publishers originally, its "Asperger'sness" could come in handy if I approached them as "this is an autistic novel", as some such books are now becoming popular.
Does anybody have any idea who I might approach about publishing such a book? Is there any publisher known for publishing writers with aspergers/autism?
Thanks.

Is there a possibility of me looking at your novel?

Maybe Jessica Kingsly Publishing or Future Horizons. Or whoever published the Curious Incident of the Dog.

lelia,
Thanks so much for your reply. I would love to let you look at my novel. Right now I have it in 2 forms--hard copies and a copy that was on a old computer, put on a disc and needs to be reformatted. As soon as I can get it reformatted I will I send it to you via email cause it's cheaper than sending a hard copy. Do you want to send me a private message with your email address or how do we do it? I'll try the publishers you suggest.

Wow! Thanks for your interest. I'll send it to anyone who somehow sends me their email. It's called ADVENTURES OF A MONSTER.

Sorry I ended up doubling my message--and I don't seem to be able to delete the second one, just edit it.

It might help to post it on thepiratebay.org or some other file-sharing site, similer to what Cory Doctorow does with his tech/cyberpunk-ish novels.

I *might* be interested in reading it. Can you give me (or us) a more thorough description, a summary? If it sounds really good I'd like a copy, but honestly reading an e-version of a book doesn't sound too thrilling.

Yes, I understand about not wanting to read an e-book, and also my paying to send out hard copies to individuals either is not what I want to do. So....if I could actually get someone to publish it as a real book that would be in everybody's interest. Also a "real publisher" would do publicity so a lot of people might be interested in reading it.
As for the idea of publishing online--I'm not a web wiz and don't want to pay someone to set up a website for me, though if someone would do it for me I wouldn't turn down the offer. But I think more people would read it if it was in print than online.
A short description or summary:
Jean is born with "porcine elephantitis"--a disease that makes her resemble a pig without a snout. (a physicalized metaphor for being an outsider unable to fit in). She leaves the farm to go to the big smoke--Fargo, North Dakota, gets a job as a telemarketer, and makes friends with other misfits. She has an unromance with a fellow telemarketer and joins the Hare Krishnas.
It is not a consciously-Asperger's book as in "I have Asperger's and I'm writing about my Asperger's experience." I wrote it before I ever heard of Asperger's and later was told that that was the cause of my, and the book's strangeness in various areas.

I was able to read the disc on my computer without reformatting so now I can send the book in an email to anyone who wants to read it. The only problem is that the last chapter is the first attachment.
