I've listened to it a few times since I saw this post. I've got more and more ideas, but at the same time, music's a very personal thing, so I don't wanna stick my nose in! This is absolutely not a criticism of what you've done now, cos everyone's got a different sound in their head, and I know you're still developing the track. So I guess this is my remix pitch, and coming from that angle, I hope you won't mind!
If I was playing around with this I'd take the floaty synth slice that follows the first "verse" and use it more, both as it is, and with little FX tweaks, as an intro as well as an outro, and also as a very brief breakdown somewhere in the middle, with the beat kicking back in as a "surprise" on the third beat of the bar. I think it's a really great loop to work with.
I love the beat generally, especially the variation at the end, and I'd play with that and use it briefly at transition moments throughout the track, to mark switches into the floaty synth interludes and stuff like that.
I'd reduce the reverb, add a tiny touch of distortion or granulation to the vocals, and maybe embellish them with other FX at specific moments - they are tough, punchy lyrics, and the listener should have "no escape" from them... maybe I'd work toward a sense of mild claustrophobia with them. They demand the listener's total attention. On the other hand, the instrumental fluidity is crucial to the track, but these two elements counterbalance each other really nicely, and both ends of the scale could be pushed out to their respective extremes and still maintain the balance... jeez, I'm getting a bit conceptual here, sorry
I would have great fun with that bassline. Using it as the basis, I'd sweep with lo-pass and hi-pass filters, resolution and distortion through the track to emphasise it's fluidity, and also here and there to bring out it's full power.
Anyway, I am just a bedroom amateur, messing around on Ableton Live, and I can be all verbal and not have the prowess to carry it off myself!!
I guess there's plenty of that around!!
I know people rip each other off all the time, and you don't know me at all, but if you were willing to let me try to make a remix of this, I'd really enjoy doing that. I'm not interested in money, credit, acknowledgment, whatever... it would just be fun to do. It's got me hooked, so I had to ask, but trust me, I'm not the slightest bit offended if you don't take me up on it!
