This guy is a legend... He was huge during the 70s and perhaps the 80s, too (although I can't be certain).

During the 80's yes he was. Even during the early 90's.

One thing though:

Don't give him a car; he can't hold onto one.

I've met Christie Brinkley, he was married to her for a while.

With all the deaths going around I was hoping this wasn't another death thread. Whew... Good to see Billy is alive. :)

I love Billy Joel. He recorded a lot of good music, in his time. I listen to him, on YouTube, a lot. 8)

:wink: That's so cute. Yes, Billy and Elton John owned the pop charts during the 70s and 80s. Joel was never as flamboyant as Elton, but he was every bit as prolific - seems like one of them had a song in the top twenty nearly every month from the early 70s through at least the early 90s. And unlike Elton, Billy Joel wrote his own songs. I always liked the desolate sense of social alienation he captured perfectly in Captain Jack on the Piano Man album. For a similar sense of internal disconnect, see Elton's song Ticking from Caribou.

:P SNL did a skit years ago about Billy Joel driving a group of girls home from a party and hitting everything in sight along the way - mailboxes, cats, bag ladies - Like all great comedy, funny because its true...

Billy Joel's "Keeping the Faith" was the first album I ever bought. Back when people were wearing neon leg warmers and big, crispy hair. Even later when I got into punk and harder edged stuff, Billy was always a staple in my musical diet!

I saw him a few times in the late 70s and had all his records back then. I loved Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.
