So As an aspie i like to create my own worlds to play or roleplay or fight bad guys in. when i was younger i did it with legos or with toy guns out side. but now that i am older i see the gift to develop a world as something valuable. my issue is that i am not an artist writer or anything else. i am not someone who could take my world and give it context. But i am still creating a world and i think there could be books writen games made movies made perhaps television shows made within the universe. much like the star wars or startrek universe. However, I am wondering how i copyright said universe, or do i copyright each civilzatipon each ship each planet each tech each character, each race.
I have some artist friends helping me with the looks of the races but i am afraid to open it up for colaboration without having a copyright. could anyone help direct me where to go?

Also if you have an alien race you have developed in your mind, perhaps just picture you drew, or 3d models. perhaps you wrote a story that takes place on a planet, I would love to have help because i have seen so much scifi i am having trouble coming up with original races.

Also if you could help me with theoretical FTL tech I would very much appreciate the advisement.

After i create this world. I hope to have the option to market it to game developers movie producers tv writers and novelist.

You can contact me at [email protected] If you are interested in giving me some ideas. I will also closely follow my thread.

Thanks,
-Zarok

The U.S. Copyright Office is very specific about what is copyrightable. Here's a link.

http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-protect.html

If you've created distant worlds, languages, characters, etc your best bet would be to use and incorporate those ideas in a short story, poem or novel as ideas by themselves are not copyrightable.

The Atomic Rocket website should cover the rest.

Copyrights are technically automatically claimed upon fixing a creative work, that means you need to record something representing your fictional world.

Does it have to mention everything? like every race and world? cause i already have a one hour recording of the history of mans exploration of space and its first contact.

It also fails here in Firefox (404 Not Found) - possibly because of the extra "%E2%80%8E" tacked on the end of the URL in your post.
This link, without that extra stuff, works here: http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/index.php
