Hey, I'm looking to turn one of my old guitars into a guitbass.



I'm planning to use Ernie Ball extra-heavies. I know I'll need to file the nut and bridge to accommodate the wider strings.

What really has me worried is neck warpage due to only using 3 strings...

So, I'm wonder if anyone here has done this and has any advice.

Probably gonna have to get a completely new neck (bolt on unless you would rather go to a luthier to get a whole instrument made) as well as extra-heavy tension springs for the bridge.

Speaking of variants... id absolutely love to have a harp guitar.

I have built a few guitars from scratch and repaired and modded way too many to remember. If the guitar your modifing is of decent quality and has a good working truss rod I don't see it being too much of an issue. ( I don't know how heavy those EB strings are, I am assuming they are not crazy heavy.)
Take your time filling the nut, It seems simple enough, but you have to be real carefull not to cut the slots too deep. Just don't be in hurry and you'll be fine.
