Masoch

to Brother Leo

I am a faithless servant
Who needs to taste and see
The glory of the moment
And the depths of frailty.

To offer up my will
for a thousand days
To praise the shadow of my Lord.

Or know torment and ecstasy
At the unkept word
Spoken to me.

But for a dark and hidden visage,
An image that no one knows for sure,
I am loathe to endure.

For obscurity and pious uncertainty
I would pay no price;
I would rather gamble with life.

I will not choose the kind of strife
That suffers blindness.

There are too many knives to choose
And some do not even seem to bruise.

Let me choose, then. the death death that suits me.

Humanity consumed
by humanity.

My own viewpoint or perspective is different ...

I am a faithful servant
Bound to taste and see
The glory of the moment
At the depth of frailty.

However, your poem does make its point well.
