Here's some photographs I took a few years ago. I don't know if I've ever shared these with you or not.

I know they're nice and everything and like most everyone else, I love to read compliments on them but I'd also like to read technical critiques on them as well. But please be gentle because I did take these with a pns digital camera and I don't have control over the f-stop and other settings a better camera would have had nor did I have the ability to swap out the lenses for something more appropriate.

Thanks for looking.

Nice pictures, a little to dark on the waterfall one for my taste. The other one could you use a hint of light.

But it's quaint :bigsmurf:.

Those are great! I especially like the first one. What kind of camera and lens did you shoot those with?

a Nikkor 3.6x 6.7-24.0 mm 1:3.1-6.7

that's what the lens says anyway. I don't know what any of it means. Like I said, it's a pns digital camera.

The composition is nice, and I actually like the darker feel of the lower halves of the images. (If you didn't intend it, exposing a little longer could certainly solve that problem.)
However, you're blowing your skies out. The problem is that the dynamic range of these scenes is way too high for your camera to handle. Some options:
- try using a graduated neutral density filter to darken the sky without affecting the ground
- try bracketing exposures and then blending them (HDR) so that you get the proper exposure for every part of the image

Nice shots. There is a nice tranquil mood to both shots and both are nicely composed. I'd say you have a good eye for composition.

On the shot with the small waterfall, I liked how you got a smoothed feathery look to the water. This can only be done with a relatively long exposure - a 1/4 or 1/2 second for example. Did you have the camera resting on something or was it hand held?

The information on the lens does not really identify the camera, but what it indicates is:

The Lens is make by Nikon. Nikkor is their brand of lenses. The 3.6x refers to zoom magnification range. The 6.7-24.0 mm also refers to zoom range, but specifies that it's shortest focal length is 6.7mm and the longest is 24mm. The 1:3.1-6.7 indicates the widest iris position at the 6.7mm and the 24mm position.

I started to write a lot of technical stuff here, but I'll spare you.

I think you should keep at the photography if you enjoy it. You seem to have a good eye for it.

I'm fairly certain I had the tripod for these shots.

Oh, those are amazing! I am not a photographer, at all, but I really liked those shots. Somehow they look like pictures from a fantasy land - just magical. :)
