Yeah that lyric basically is the Aspergers nightclub experience. I've decided to stop subjecting myself to it until i have someone to go with. Doing stuff alone sucks.
I've known NTs who wouldn't go to a club alone because the experience of being such an outsider in such a hyper-social situation is unnerving and haunting for them as well. Anyone can feel isolated in a crowd, and be deeply impacted by that. We're all social creatures and that experience of being invisible to others in a place that's suppose to be about seeing other people is a shock to anyone's psyche. I just think between NTs and Aspies, we Aspies are more confused by it. NTs would better understand why they feel that way.
I go a lot of places alone, but they are the kind of places at are friendly to people who are alone--museum, early showing of movies, cafes at non-peak hours. You'd be surprised how many people do stuff by themselves. But some places I would never go by myself, like most clubs. Pretty much anything where there's a lot alcohol being consumed is not a good thing to go to alone, whether it's a club or a wedding reception or what have you. If you're invisible to them sober, you'll being completely non-existent to them drunk!
Anyhow, the Smiths....
