Today Iam afraid.
You might notice I keep changing the You Tube I posted, keep thinking of better ones to try and convince those who are unaware of his greatness of his greatness.
I finally settled on "Trust us" one of my favourites.

He was a true original. I love the album he did with Frank Zappa " Bongo Fury"

"The music was thud like......................the music was thud like"

The version of "The Torture Never Stops" with him singing is amazing.

   Gonna have to spin some Beefheart tonight in memory

Nambo, you used "img" tags instead of "url" tabs for that BBC link.

Anyway, this is pretty sad. I know he's been sick with MS for at least 20 years, but its still quite a shock. I hope his family gets a good amount of money from the inevitable post-death record sales bump. Certainly reminds me to give "Trout Mask Replica" and "Safe As Milk" some listens this weekend, its been a while since I last listened to either.

I remember listening to him with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention back in the 70s. He will be missed. :(

Ever since the captain died I have gotten deeply interested in his music. He was so original. He didn't care what people expect to hear in music. I can't believe Trout Mask Replica came out of 1969. It still sounds brand new. if not futuristic.
