Here's the reason why. Mick Avory joined The Kinks in the January of that year. I've been wondering why most of my avatars are from that year, so I put 2 and 2 together. It seems that I might not be the Spirit of 1965 after all. I could pretty well be the Spirit of 1964.
Here's the reason why. There are two basic looks that The Kinks had that make me feel very nostalgic. These looks are going to be in order as well. My favourite look is the red jackets, yellow frilly shirts and black trousers. Stuff that I could easily find at a thrift store and perhaps a fabric store for the yellow ruffles. That look reminds me of the summer, because most of those pictures were taken in the August of 1964.
My second favourite look of theirs, is the caps, leather and brown suits. It just brings me back to the time that the magic all started to happen. Brown is also the perfect colour for me.
I was about to emulate that image when I was getting sick of being called a girly girl and mistaken for a typical woman who likes the clothes that a typical woman would wear.
I'm glad that I stuck with the slightly longer hair and my red jackets. All that I have to do, is tell people what I like and what I will and won't wear, if I'm not willing to take just anything off the clothing table at the soup kitchen. I shouldn't be taking those clothes, anyways. I should be buying them at Value Village. Those clothes are for the very poor. I'm sure that I'll find something that I really like at one of my local thrift stores, closer to the end of 2011.
