Marlovian theory
"The Marlovian theory with regard to the Shakespeare authorship question holds that the famous Elizabethan poet and playwright Christopher Marlowe did not die in Deptford on 30 May 1593, as the historical records state, but rather that his death was faked, and that he was the main author of the poems and plays attributed to William Shakespeare."

Do you think that with the evidence and verisimilitude of that very evidence that Marlowe wrote Shakespeare's plays?
I am beginning to think that every book with the name of Shakespeare needs to be taken off of the shelves.
However, I suppose that it would be unfair to reauthorize the works of Shakespeare when one cannot prove (without actually being there) that this is true or false.

Nope; Marlowe died in a fight, Shakspar wrote his own stuff, which happened to show heavy influence from Marlowe for whatever reason; Billy-boy liked his stuff or knew it sold or whatever. The "someone other than Shakespeare dunnit" theory rests heavily on the flawed premise that "Shakespeare was a pleb / plebs cannot write proper plays / therefore Shakespeare could not have written his plays as they are proper" - which doesn't take into account that any reasonably bright person does not stop learning upon reaching adulthood, and if they're immersed in an environment like the theatre, they're gonna pick it up.

The point is not that Shakespeare would have written improper plays.
Likewise, because Christopher Marlowe used blank verse in his poems and plays (Shakespeare did, too), it is not impossible that such a conspiracy could have happened. It could have been Christopher Marlowe, Shakespeare, or the like. There is no proof that the THEORY is erroneous or fallacious.

i am pretty sure our need to assign authors to everything is a little overrated. many things are collaborations. but i hear a different voice in marlowe, and i also believe they "thought" differently. personally i think they had different strenths, and a collaboration would have been fun to read. but, i don't really care. sometimes there is no really good authority. it's ok. ![]()
