Am I the only one that thinks he's psychologically damaged from what he endures in that book?

1) He's not real, so it doesn't matter.
2) Pretentious book. I much prefer things like Ayn Rand's Anthem. Similar dystopian plot, but much deeper and 6198328 times better. Can't really be grasped by immature minds, though; The Giver is a watered-down, simplified version of a dystopian concept.

The Giver is a children's book. I highly doubt most children have the mental capacity or patience to read Ayn Rand.

Not really aimed towards children, but adolescents. I highly doubt most children have the mental capacity or patience to understand utopian or dystopian societies.

But anyways, I was just saying in general. Figured most people in this subforum aren't "children"...

I think it's more aimed towards those at the end of pre-adolescence on the cusp of adolescents, like 6th graders. I'm stuck reading it AGAIN this year.
