I am looking to set some short poems to music.
They don't all have to be by the same author.
Haiku would be a good example of what I'm after
Can anyone link me to any?.

They're not quite haiku, but have you considered the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (translated and edited by Edward Fitzgerald)? Here's an example of a verse:

With them the Seed of Wisdom did I sow,
And with my own hand labour'd it to grow:
And this was all the Harvest that I reap'd—
"I came like Water, and like Wind I go."
