Hi, recently I found myself a fascination for video games soundtracks in general and I wanted to do some few pieces of soundtrack and I was wondering if there existed some good free softwares on the Internet that didn't required any particular materials and were pretty easy to understand (since I'm new to this thing).

Anybody got an idea?

Fruity Loops is pretty good. You might be able to find a free one.

Agreed. If you want, you can also record your music and export it on Audacity. It's a free recording software and you might get a couple of good effrcts depending on what computer you have.

Eventually if you ever get really serious Pro Tools and Logic Studio Pro are the industry standards. Personally I like Logic a little better.

You can't get anything for free in this world.

Especially not when it comes to creating your own music.

I use FL Studio and then a whole bunch of VST's and soundfonts that I bought, but you might be able to find some free ones of fairly decent quality at sf2midi.com.

The thing I like about FL Studio is that you can use your regular pc-keyboard to play music, so you don't actually have to learn how to play on a piano :)

I have Fruity Loops and MODplug. MODplug is supposed to be better, but it's very hard to master. It's free though. FL isn't, but I pirated it so :pirat:

Fruity Loops is pretty simple and userfriendly. But the absolute best music creation system is a workstation keyboard. Tho it's hella expensive.

- and unneccessary.

You can create music in FL Studio that sounds just like if it was a real orchestra.

This was one I made in FL Studio:

- its nothing but MIDI and soundfonts.

Actually it doesn't matter what type of software you use, as long as you have decent soundfonts and use a decent reverb.

Granted. However one advantage of a WS keyboard is the ability to perform the music you make.

That can be done with a regular pc keyboard too... the very same keyboard you use to type on WP with.

Unless of course I am wrong here, and you by WS keyboard mean something that can play different instruments and melodies simultaneously live.

You can make music without spending a dime. Just clap a beat and sing.

Well WS keyboards are basically arrangers, but obviously you can play different instruments live. Basically you can mimic a band live, one of my youtube friends have a Fantom X8, a kinda old but still powerful keyboard. He only uses its monstrous capabilities for his gigs. He's one person and it sounds like 4-5 people are playing there.

Besides it takes much more skill to play a keyboard professionally than to just come to a gig with a comp and a software.
