I have some favorite Irish artists: Flogging Molly, The Corrs and Celtic Woman.

I know Flogging Molly is based in America, but I hope they still count because their music is Celtic Punk.

I think Franz Ferdinand are scottish. Theyre not bad.

Also Irish music can be pretty fun to listen to sometimes.

I like Irish/Scots/Ulster-Scots music depending on what it is, of course.

I like the Johnstons very much, but I'm kinda biased.

This is my favourite Indian song, on account of it being just about the only one I can think of. Damn those evil hippies!

A little twee, but "The Corrs" from Ireland cranked out some great albums for awhile. Mary Black is also a great Irish musician, and there's a great CD called "Eist" that is a compilation of Irish musicians all singing their songs in Gaelic.

For Indian musicians, I loved Lata Mangeshkar, who was a very famous overdub singer for Bollywood movies.

From Scotland, shoegaze/dream pop group Cocteau Twins..

From Ireland:
Probably my favourite Irish metal band, Primordial.

Along with Cocteau Twins vocalist, Elisabeth Fraser, I've always thought that the Irish Dolores O'Riadan was one of the most ethereal, heavenly female vocalists on the planet...

From the Cranberries huge hit, "Dreams"..

Absolutely beautiful.

Glasgow hosts a traditional Celtic music festival every year, called Celtic Connections. You'll be able to see/hear some stuff on YouTube. The artists are from UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Canada, the US and others.

If you're seeking out stuff other than traditional music, there's been lots of great bands fom Scotland in the past (Eurythmics, Simple Minds, Deacon Blue, Orange Juice, to name a few) and we have a few good bands and artists just now (Franz Ferdinand, the Fratellis, Biffy Clyro, Paolo Nutini).

I agree. Ravi was incredibly influential. He single handedly introduced the west to Indian music.

Van Morrison (Northern Ireland) is one of my favorites. He made an excellent CD with The Chieftains of traditional Irish music. I own quite a few CD's by the Chieftains and by Morrison.

I haven't heard more than a couple of songs by The Proclaimers from Scotland, but I liked them. I also like the Clancy Brothers.
