Post your own Shakespearean sonnet.
Here's mine:

Blink
-------

This house is full of ghosts, spun webs and wind
Twenty five years ago, as seen on film
It was alive, with sun and light and joy
Tall grass, green eyes (strobe light without a noise)
The walls are stripped bare, the ceiling destroyed
What's left? Just the dream, in a corridor.
Night lights, square tiles, all three doors are closed
Down stairs, turn right, on a carpeted floor
His ashes condemned without a fire
Raindrops on broken glass and rusted nails
The sun is bluer these days, it's colder
The smell of wood, smoke, my face has grown pale
Blink once, warm light, bedside, I fall asleep
Blink twice, blue light, nightlife, dead on my feet.

Haunting poem Cornelius. Had to look up Shakespearean sonnet. I'm breaking the abab cdcd efef gg scheme to do aabb ccdd eeff gg

Also: this is bad and I realized I copied your ghost theme without meaning to, me being a dummy. I'll try to do another that's originally themed.
--
I went down to the valley of the ghosts
Where ancient things keep in their long repose
And brushed the leaves I found off of a stone
And felt a something ringing in my bone

I wanted more than anything to know
Of all the places I had chanced to go
If any of them led to what I seek
By sending out a signal ever weak

But ever strong in its persistent ring
The hollow bony song that objects sing
That people in their brightness never mind
Until a coldness catches and they find

The thing that they are searching for at last
The question to the answers spoken past

Wow! That sent a chill down my spine. It really connected. Very well done!
I read it 10 times.
Don't sell yourself short like that, you have talent.
Oh, and don't worry about the ghost theme, to inspire another is the greatest of compliments. :)

Here's one about my cat (his name is Matrix, not after the film, but the mathematical object).
It's lighthearted, as my cat is probably one of the only source of joy in my life.
Although that's sad in itself, the poem is not.

Matrix and the Serpent
---------------------------------

The crazy poof cat waits under a chair
He lurks and wants to ambush and bite me
He jumps, grabs my leg and gives me a scare.
I call forth the serpent man, run kitty!
There's a girl, she whisks the purr purr away
The serpent man is angered, he hisses,
Pif paf escapes her grasp, he cannot stay;
The snake is coiled, his life's in crisis,
Under the stairs he goes, he wants to hide
Forever and ever, forked tongues and eyes
He will endeavor to avoid, besides:
His poof is eternal, he'll never die,
Arched back and racoon tail, he bites the snake,
The evil creature was just a fake!

Hah! Wow Matrix sounds like a true hunter! That painted quite the picture! Glad you didn't take my imitation of you personally but in fact positively! I very much appreciate the nice compliment!

Well I hope you soon find more sources of joy in your life than Matrix but he does seem like a day-brightening little rascal.
