Thoughts on Nirvana?

Hello!! I was just curious on what other WP users thought of the band Nirvana (active from 1987-1994 with various reunion shows after 1994 with the exclusion of Kurt Cobain for obvious reasons)

Most people I know in real life either love or hate the band. My "band" (just a groupchat with musician people I know, I haven't put much effort towards actually getting stuff to happen lately because I've been recording my own album) hates Nirvana and typically will trash on it at even the slightest mention, our guitarist/singer saying they made their music lazily, and our dedicated guitarist calling Kurt Cobain a sissy for coughing up blood due to vocal strain and stomach problems.

But my best friend is a big fan of Nirvana, and I love the band as well.

Why would coughing up blood due to vocal strain and stomach problems make one a sissy? Do you think your dedicated guitarist might be jealous? It does seem like some of the criticism they receive is rooted in jealousy.

I think their music was good.

That's what im saying! He says Kurt complained and whined about it, which I never heard about. And even if he did, he has every right to, that would definitely hurt really bad. My dedicated guitarist says metal vocalists destroy their vocal chords like kurt cobain and don't complain about it, but the thing is that most metal vocalists learn technique that prevent them from having the same issues as Kurt Cobain. My dedicated guitarist sometimes sings and uses very improper technique, and I try to explain to him that he should be using proper technique to avoid messing up his vocal chords he just tries to act tough and doesn't listen. He also refuses to wear ear protection to also act tough.

Your dedicated guitarist sounds like a bit of a dick.

I hope he decides to learn proper vocal technique before he hurts himself too.
