Not to speak out of turn - there are a lot of producers here, a few dj's that I'm aware of but the producer count is much higher.
For the record: most of my friends through my late teens/early 20's (ie. 1998 to 2002/2003) were dj's; I thought about buying a pair of Technics but when I tried it all out on a serious level I liked it for a minute but got bored. True, nothing wrong with doing both but I suppose this was back when hardware was still the rule so finances didn't really allow that option.
