I walked across a line today
You thought I lost my way
But there I am now coming back
And there's nothing I lack

A darkened line that you can't see
To separate you from me
A portal to another world
Where everything is twirled and swirled

Lights and sights now must decay
As my world you now survey
A quiet calm rushes in
Silent peace where chaos has been

A gentle wave or soft rocking
Keeps overwhelming things from docking
In this world I seek to mold
Even texture must be controlled

My barrier from the outside
Here order must preside
All of me hangs upon
This solace I lean on

But alas you seek to find
This world that I designed
Try to fix it, you must
And make me readjust

Outside to you there is more than gold
But those woeful tales I've all been told
Of parties, malls, and other fun
Yet these are the things I shun

My sanctuary is your barrier
As so with the zeal of a terrier
You seek to make it "right"
And enter in by night

You seek to disband
What you can't understand
I never asked you to try
To color my blue sky

To you my world is strange
So now you seek to exchange
My world for your norm
Demanding reform

But what you ask I can not give
And yet you will not forgive
Your world I am not of
And your world I can not love

Please let me return
For your world I spurn
I can not be molded
Though you have scolded

And only time will tell
If the world where you dwell
Is as much as you said
And as much as I dread

For a buried secret lies
Deep in my eyes
Of a world left unknown
That is all my own

Yet this world you lamented
And never relented
Still you could not steal it away
Though I was lost in the fray

Please see me, I am here
You are all I have to fear
And look in to my eyes
And see my clear blue skies

This world locked deep inside
Yours and mine must now collide
Two worlds exclude eachother
But mine, don't seek to smother

Hear my voice
And let me by choice
Enter in to my own world
Where my being can unfurl

I remember a poem I wrote during some of the darker days of junior high wherein I called myself a specter that had flown from this world into one of fantasy.

So yes, I can relate.

I like it, but I must say I lost concentration halfway through.

You just told the story of my life. I kind of want to go into the outside world (to get a job, earn money, and not be the black sheep of the family), but I still want to retreat to my own world for safety and fun. I can definetly relate to your poem.
