I just finished the book. It was great. The first few chapters were slow going, but once it picked up, I enjoyed it. Well, as much as you can enjoy a book about a sociopathic child who kills his classmates. Now I want to see the movie.

Has anyone else read the book? If so, what do you think about it?

I haven't read it, but it's definitely on my wish list. I've gotten sucked into the Hunger Games series...

I bought it a few weeks ago but haven't worked up the nerve to start it yet (stuff like this really, really gets to me).

It's all letters from the mother to her estranged husband. The first few chapters (letters) deal mainly with the beginning of their marriage, and her feelings about having a baby, etc. Those are hard to get through because they were boring, to me anyway. She does make references to what Kevin did, and the aftermath etc in them. Also, because it's letters to someone who knows all the backstory, some of the references aren't clear, but they are explained as it goes along. It's one of those books that you need to read twice to get the full effect of it. The second reading, you can catch lots of things you didn't on the first one, because you know how it all pans out.

It's really good, and I can't wait to find the movie.

Kills his classmates? Not all of them, I hope?

I think it's been out a couple of years. They just made a movie of it and I bought it at Wal Mart the other day.

I read it in school a couple of years ago. It was pretty... intense.

It was hard for me to access the language because it was so high register.

I think it was published in 2005.

I want to watch the film because Tilda Swinton plays the mother (it has to be awesome) and Jonny Greenwood composed the soundtrack. And I want to see how they adapted it on screen.
