I like hardcore. At least what it used to be, anyways. I started losing interest in the changes it was making around '03 or '04.
I do have hardcore and punk to thank for most of the socializing I've been able to do (and especially for getting girls). Being in crowds(shows) wasn't so bad when it was with mostly "like-minded" people, or at least ones with that specific of common interest.
I still listen to alot of metal- Mostly stuff from the '90s through the very early '00s, like Cryptopsy, Between the Buried and Me, Neurosis, Today is the day, Converge, The Red Chord, Cave In, Isis, Burnt By the Sun , etc..
