It might have been done before, I am not sure, but what is your desktop background at the moment and why did u choose it?
I am putting this here in this category because I think most people have some form of art, a photo, painting and so on as their background. Here's mine, I like it because that's how I feel as a person somehow, plus I love gasmasks and steampunk.

This is my wallpaper. I don't really relate to it in any special way, other than it isn't super cheesy like the other ones I've had, and has interesting textures to it!

My wallpaper is the Windows logo.
I think this means that I am an extremely pragmatic person.
EDIT: It probably also means that I spend very little time looking at my desktop. I always have several windows open, and I use the start menu and taskbar to open programs.

Blackness. Because I'm a dark tortured soul.
Actually, it's because I screwed up my Linux and lost the background somehow, because I lost the program off the taskbar thing and no longer can set my background without finding the program. Yay.

It's a big close up of a flower, basically all in shades of orange and with a lot of blurring around the edges. I prefer vague, fuzzy backgrounds so that I don't get fixated/distracted/zoned-out on the little details when they're between my app windows.
As for what it means? I guess it could be over-compensation for not having spent more time developing the 'right half' of my brain. So, I choose something ethereal and fuzzy instead of distinct and 'linear.'

Varies, but it is always a picture I took myself, so I associate some personal experience with it:
For a while I've had this on my laptop, from Las Palmas:
On my big iMac I have this, from Mauritania. This road goes all the way to Timbuktu:
(this is from the very last roll of Kodachrome I got to shoot, and was sent to the lab within only a couple of days of the deadline. I miss Kodachrome)

I took this myself. It a 'Poorinda Royal Mantle' Grevillea, a cultivar of G. laurifolia and G. willisi.
Plants are elegant but uncomplicated lifeforms. They just absorb sunlight and water, grow, pass on their seeds, sway with the breeze, then die. I envy this existence.

My desktop's desktop is plain black, because Avast killed Steam the other day and in a fit of pique I decided to reinstall Windows completely and haven't thought of anything to put on there yet. My laptop has a picture of the valley Thursbitch that I took last year, which says I'm a fanatical Garner fan. My work laptop is also plain black, just because. My phone has the nearest to plain black that was in its standard options.
