Mr Leonard Cohen

I see the ruins of the marble arches that once stood proud and tall…
While waiting for the miracle did they crumble, rust and fall…
In times like this, the Devil’s twist, he’s laid the wicked hand…
You lost the deck but Mr Cohen, I do understand.

Light gets through the crevices and cracks of here and then…
What’s gone is gone but you grew strong from pain you felt back when…
“There is a crack in everything” a lesson learnt firsthand…
You danced again and Mr Cohen, I do understand.

A triumph over suffering, to that I can relate…
Thoughts you fought, so taut you sought to sort and to collate…
And nothing ever stays the same; we flow with time like sand…
You struggled on and Mr Cohen, I do understand.

Patience is a virtue, and patient you have been…
And fair as garden fountains as the mountains shout “Amen!”
The astral planes are open, for you to walk the land…
You grew so wise and Mr Cohen, I do understand.

Very nice.

Thank you kindly, redrobin. :) Some of this uses quotes from Leonard Cohen songs or imagery in songs of his, so I cannot claim it's all original, but it's about him so it still works in that sense.

What about these two lines -

"A triumph over suffering, to that I can relate…
Thoughts you fought, so taut you sought to sort and to collate… "

Very rhythmic, well written and succinct. Is that yours or Leonard Cohen's?

I find Leonard Cohen to be unsettling in a way that other music is not. He reminds me of a spider, weaving his web as he sings sometimes.

I've read both of your poems that you recently posted. You've certainly got talent, I look forward to seeing more from you in the future! And I'm not one who hands out praise too often either :D

Thank you very much redrobin62, staremaster and Stargazer43. :)

@redrobin62: I am happy with those lines in particular. That part of the poem was something I came up with. Thank you very much and I hope you have a great day. :)

@staremaster: There is definitely something about him that is mysterious and rather dark. I like that metaphor about the spider weaving his web. I hope you have a great day. :)

@Stargazer43: Thank you very much. :) I appreciate the compliment. I'll write some more poems in due time. I hope you have a great day. :)
