Earl Scruggs was one of the greats, he will be missed. I think no one posted about this before because people who appreciate bluegrass are few and far between. I'm kind of a minority within a minority

^^^ Yeah, its a shame more people don't realize what cool music it is.

I grew up around a lot of great Bluegrass and Mountain Music--my parents were always trying to get me to go to festivals--but I didn't want anything to do with all that uncool hillbilly crap....

Then I started listening to the Pogues, which led to listening to Celtic folk music... and eventually all that led me back to that hillbilly crap.

I missed out on a lot of good music as a kid.

I started off listening to bands like The Pogues, Dubliners, Chieftains, Flogging Molly & then I got into bluegrass and country later on.

Earl Scruggs was a true legend and I was very sad to hear that he had died. I play mandolin and bouzouki but he has definitely influenced my playing style.
