Sometimes it happens. For me I find Slipknot and Bullet for My valentine are a lot like that, with Deftones and Nirvana fans up there. When the listeners don't seem to know music well it creates problems. Tool fans are the opposite where they go super pretentious. Does anybody here have any bands like that they'd love to share?

I am anticipating a lot of black metal haha.

Rammstein

Super good lyrics, very inteligent use of the german language. Unfortunately they seem to attract big guys with leatherjackets and big motorcycles and extreme rightwing people.

Funnily enough most of their lyrics are about love, sometimes quite strange forms of love!

The song Du hast
Du
du hast
du hast mich
(4 x)
du hast mich gefragt

which is translated
You
You have
You have me
You have asked me
You have asked me and I have said nothing

"Du hast," sounds as if he could either be saying "Du hast" (you have) or "Du hasst" (you hate). This is to give the song a double meaning

Iron Maiden is a good example. Far too many “fans” have no idea that they've made more than just “Fear of the Dark”.

Muse were ace and the Emos and Twilight fans ruined them in a sense.

I will add a new one: Metallica. I don't like anything pre-black album because of the crappy production, but if they got them re-produced, they would be called sell-outs. Why it sucks when bands have such big dichotomy that Metallica does. They have division between fans that want more black album-Reload era, fans that want older sounding stuff, and those that loved St. Anger.

I'll second this. And it's ironic because they're actually very liberal. But some of their songs can be misleading in that regard, especially if you don't speak the language.

A good example might be "Links 2 3 4". It has a very militaristic, almost Nazi vibe to it. This was actually meant to be ironic. The song is about how everyone wants to cast them as far right whereas they're actually the complete opposite. ("Links" = "Left".)

Sadly, this meaning seems to be lost on a lot of their fanbase.

I tend to not like getting into fanbases in general. The Oasis fanbase was good, and so were the fans for other bands I liked at the time, but the one for Manic Street Preachers reminded me of the kind of people I went to school with, which is never a good thing. While I'm not 'into' the Echo & The Bunnymen fanbase, the fan forum is really funny, and a few EATB fans have been very kind to me.

Led Zeppelin can be very nice sounding and i'll admit that i love "Kashmir." However, a lot of their fans (especially younger ones) ONLY listen to Led Zeppelin, call all modern music dead pop crap and steal your guitar just to play stairway to heaven. I've even placed a rule that no one is allowed to play that song on my guitar or any guitar that is trusted in my custody.

Bob Marley.

Bob isn't just smoking weed, as many people seem to think.

I know one song with one idiot fan.

The song was Springsteen's "Born in the USA".

The fan was the senior George W. Bush who adopted it as his campaign theme song because the presidential incumbent thought it was a patriotic rock anthem, and didnt realize that it was a dark tale of alienation.

I deejay at parties and I get the opposite problem: the hottest young ladies in the room always request the cheesiest music- like Justin Bieber.
