One way I got introduced to a large number of freestyle tracks was this random CD I bought at a convenience store. Random DJ out of NYC had a bunch of mixtapes he'd have gas stations sell for $3-4 each. One was freestyle, recognized some of the songs, and yeah. To me with freestyle I really like it, as it reminds me of the closest thing going on in America to Italodisco, if that makes any sense. I really like italo a lot, freestyle seems the closest American thing to that kinda music. As in, a nice simple dance pop music style.
Next to Pretty Poison's "Catch Me I'm Falling" this is probably my favorite freestyle track.
I'm a bit lacking for old house, though, as far as what I really know. I think from my records and what I've heard I do prefer freestyle to old house. Faster paced.
Maybe you should change this thread's title to "House and Freestyle", because we can include stuff about Freestyle too

.. I notice you are in Connecticut? So you are close to New York City? It is a good location, because New York was the center of Freestyle music (Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Chicago were others), so you can encounter many used Freestyle tapes and records often in your area? Thats cool
Here is a "New School Freestyle" song, which was a considered a "New" evolution of Freestyle that came out starting in early 1990s. The main producer was Carlos Berrios, aka After Dark, but soon other producers in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia also made similar tracks in the 1990s. The main difference from the "80's Old School" is that the "90's New School" rhythms used more sampled drum loops for a rolling rhythm effect.
