What programs do you use to create logos, widgets and the like for websites? I'm thinking of purchasing the Adobe Master collection but maybe it's sufficient to just buy the more simpler package?

What do you think?

I don't create any of the above. But I touch up my photography, and have sometimes created original art from photos copied off the inter web. I use Photoshop and IPhoto.

Does no one use Illustrator-like programs? I'm here trying to ask what programs I should consider for making graphically interesting websites.

Depends what you mean.
Do you just want static icons/logos, animations or ____?

For static icons people usually just use photoshop. Although I prefer freeware proprgrams (Gimp works better and its FREE)
For animations most just use flash.

Just google what you want. Everyone has different programs they prefer. There's a huge amount of freeware and paid programs available for illustration. I suggest googling Gimp 2.

Adobe = overpriced bloatware that is no longer unique or better then its competition.
