I am a college student who is studying the art of speed reading. Not for school, of course, but for general reading.

I basically am looking for tips and tricks that will help me read faster and spend less time on books and more time on homework.

I know that many of you do it naturally, and I have ASD too, so I ask that you keep any comments on it being impossible to yourself.

I have done it pretty well before, but need help doing it consistantly so I can pick up the paste.

Any tips or advice would be helpful, Thank You.

I used to read really fast then noticed my speed seemed to be decreasing over time. I figured out that recently I had gotten into the habit of saying each word in my head while I was reading which was why it was taking me longer than usual. My solution is to listen to music when I read. That gives the back of my mind something to do instead of sounding out every word. So I can read in "chunks" like a paragraph or two without specifically noticing every single word yet still having a complete comprehension of what I had just read.
I hope that helps.
