I am a young person and still studying at university. But I like to listen to songs from the 40's 50's and 60's.
They seem to me to be melodious and commercial mush served by this metrosexualist from Canada, you knew whom i refer here :D

It happens to me sometimes I listen to Frank Sinatra songs especially "Fly Me To The Moon" and " and "LET IT SNOW,LET IT SNOW,LET IT SNOW"

I also like listen to Beatles songs.
As to the modern songs I like them too, but not all

Sometimes it seems to me that I'm a weirdo, but i have Asperger after all :D

I think it means you have good taste :D

But then again, I'm in my 50s. Though I like to listen to older music too, from the 20s and 30s as well as the 40s through 70s.

What I figure is, people still listen to Bach and Mozart and classical music, why not Sinatra or the Beatles or Gershwin songs?

Nothing wrong with that at all, that's good taste :) Besides, i'm in nearly in my 30's and i have an open mind to all the sub-genres of metal. Whether it's the golden age of the 80's or the silver era of the 90's, it's best to be open-minded over than close minded.

I'm a 27 year old but I listen to songs from the 1650s, 1760s, and 1870s. Go figure!

You're not unlike me, OP; in my case it's the music from the 1970s-mid 1990s (mostly 1980s). :D

I'm 16, and this is my Oldies Thread, which is just a small fraction of the kind of stuff I listen to:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/posts202731-highlight.html

This is my Youtube Music Channel, which I post my favorite stuff, it will give you another overview of the kind of stuff I listen to:
http://www.youtube.com/user/klassicklips4u

Basically I'm trying to show you that it's normal and good that you listed to what would be considered "Oldies". It's a lot better than the crap these days (which suffers from brickwalling and severe compression which = ear fatigue)

I like some old music like that. I'm odd, in that I listen to music that's probably pretty popular in your country, Eurodisco/Italodisco. Nobody at all likes it in America. I love the stuff, though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wt8hZLck0Mo, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uG-ZIgVJnR8 Stuff like that. It's simple pop music, but I like it a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJKDIf8JwYE Apparently that was on Polish TV.

Anyway, my favorite old singers are Dean Martin and Perry Como.
Dean Martin - In the Misty Moonlight

Also, I think Perry Como's version of "Fly Me to the Moon" is better than Sinatra's, he almost turns it into a different song.

I feel most modern music has lost the sense of....classical romanticism? Does that make sense? Most modern music nowadays talks about things just like hooking up in a club or some other kinda thing like that. I dunno, there's no sense of "romantic" going on in most of today's music.

You hit the nail on the head with that one, couldn't have said it better myself!! That's exactly the reason I listen to older music, most music nowadays just seems so superficial and repetitive by comparison. There is still some good modern music, but often trying to find it is like looking for a needle in a haystack, and you wind up listening to 1000 hours of music for 10min that you truly enjoy.
